I am delighted to be joining RSA at such an exciting and transformational time in the security industry.
2016 brought an unprecedented focus on the global cybersecurity situation. From the use of IoT vulnerabilities to halt the largest global websites, to politically motivated intrusions, to power grids being targeted – threats that were previously unimaginable are now playing out regularly. The risk exposure is escalating as businesses across every industry embrace digital transformation and technologies to avoid getting disrupted. The threats have changed in kind, not just degree, making the task of defending more difficult, and the issue of connecting individual security incidents to business risk much harder. Boards are asking questions that CISOs can’t answer, and security teams continue to grapple with paucity of talent and vendor fatigue due to the sprawl of point solutions.
This next wave of cyber challenges will not be addressed by technology alone because cybersecurity isn’t a technology project – it’s a risk management practice. RSA’s mission is to deliver Business-Driven Security, a transformational approach that connects insights with business context to enable customers to manage business risk and protect what matters most. This strategy is repositioning and reshaping the future of security.
I’ve been fortunate to participate in many exciting industry and company transitions throughout my technology career and seven-year tenure with the Dell/EMC family. In my most recent venture, I enjoyed working with global organizations on managing business risk as they embarked on their digital transformation. The promise of the digital world is glorious, but the risks that organizations all too often encounter while getting there can be daunting.
Today, I’m particularly thrilled to be part of RSA because it is one of the few at-scale security players and is already helping world-leading organizations solve their most complex and sensitive security challenges. With RSA’s award-winning solutions, organizations can effectively detect and respond to advanced attacks; manage user identities and access; and reduce business risk and consumer fraud. With this kind of solution leadership supporting more than 300,000 customers, the experience of over 700 security practitioners worldwide, the global scale of approximately 400 channel partners, and the depth of knowledge on the executive bench – all being delivered by what’s arguably the most established and pervasive security brand in the world – RSA is the preferred security platform for customers who are looking to thrive in today’s uncertain, high risk world.
It’s rare, in one’s career, to have the opportunity to help accelerate the growth of a brand that’s an essential enabler for the digital world AND part of one of largest and most trusted technology companies in the world. There could not be a more exciting place to be, during an absolutely critical time period for the cybersecurity industry, and I look forward to working with you to deliver a business driven approach to security.
